FAQ
Q:
Does Harmonique do charity work?
A:
We do and we have done so in the past. We are always keen to contribute to our local community and other worthy causes. Our involvement usually comes down to availability and the requirements of the event.
Q:
Can Harmonique be booked outside of the Cairns local area?
A:
Absolutely. We are prepared to play pretty much anywhere :-) Obviously certain preparations will be necessary if we are to travel long distances or to stay overnight at an event for example. These considerations are dealt with during the booking stage of the event in question.
Q:
Is there a deposit required for a Harmonique booking?
A:
In most circumstances yes. However, there are exceptions to every rule, so check out the "Services & Fees" page or contact us directly to see what we can work out.
Q:
Can requests be made at Harmonique performances?
A:
As a general rule, no. We pre-arrange every set we play to suit the venue and the patrons that frequent that venue. However, there is an extra option available within our fee structure to have a board with songs on it available for requests. Patrons can choose what they like from the board and we play those requests during the event. See our Services & Fees page for more details.
Q:
Can Harmonique play in situations with limited mains power, space and other resouce restrictions?
A:
Yes we can. When it is required we can play in a very small footprint. Our equipment can fit on a table as small as 50cm x 50cm and we use one JBL Sub + Array speaker tower (40cm x 45cm) for sound distribution. We also have a smaller, less power-hungry system that can run on battery power if needed (it has similar physical dimensions to our JBL system). Therefore we can play at events/venues from beaches to large full-sized night clubs. The only stipulation we make is that we MUST perform behind the main speaker line, as this greatly reduces feedback (that horrible, loud, high-pitched ringing sound that happens when sound goes wrong). High sound quality is always our main goal.
Q:
Can Harmonique perform quietly and within local council noise restrictions?
A:
Absolutely. Abiding by all local council/government regulations is very importance to us. We have successfully played at a local restaurant in Cairns where there was a limit of 75db of sound that we were allowed to create. That is the same loudness as two people quietly talking at a table. We can also play "totally acoustically" with no sound equipment at all if the event has that particular need.
Q:
Does Harmonioque use backing tracks?
A:
Under certain circumstances we do. There are events and occasions that require a bigger, more fuller sound and instrumentation set (weddings, birthdays and Christmas functions for example). For these types of situations we can use backing tracks for part or all of the event if it's required or requested. The backing tracks we use are made by us in our professional recording facility (Studio Bungalow) to the highest standard. If a patron was to close his/her eyes at a "backing tracks show" it would be as if the whole band was performing right in front of them.
Q:
Does Harmonique play "Originals Only" shows?
A:
Yes we do. But unfortunately there is virtually no demand for original music in Far North Queensland, so it is very rare that we get to play an "originals only performance". However, we continue to write, produce and record music in a variety of genres in Studio Bungalow, both for ourselves and our clients.
Q:
A:
There are several kinds of bookings that have an option to sing between one and three songs with us (providing certain professional requirements and arrangements are met). But under normal circumstances it is a strict NO. We do have friends that are professional musicians and we may offer them an opportunity to join in on a song with us from time to time. This does not mean that everyone else in attendance deserves "a go" and they will be promptly refused by Andrew.
